Kamal is a thief who finds a broken watch among his stolen items so he puts it aside. It turns out that the watch contains hypersensitive microfilm about military sites, and he becomes followed by the police and the spies who want the watch.

During the Cultural Revolution in China in the late 20th century, ethnic Manchu people were persecuted and forced to give up such cultural traditions as the shaman dance (tiao tchin, meaning "spirit-jumping" or "god's dance"). However, on Changbai Mountain in Northeast China, a farmer named Guan Yunde decided to start designing and building traditional Manchu shaman drums. At age 70, he is one of a minority of ethnic Manchu people in China's Jilin province, and one of the few people keeping the Manchu shamanic tradition alive.

Rajesh, is very insecure and possessive almost to the point of an obsession. He introduces Meena to his close and best friend, Dr. Shekhar, and soon gets formally engaged to Meena. Thereafter, Rajesh and Meena have an automobile accident, in which Rajesh becomes paralyzed and must be confined in a wheelchair. It is then that Rajesh finds out that Shekhar and Meena are having an affair, and the old murderous and possessive hatred, that he had managed to conceal, surfaces again - and this time will it will be Shekhar's turn.

Sylwie is 13. One day, her dog accidentally wanders into a neighbouring flat, where Sylwia encounters a priest anointing the sick. She falls in love with the priest and soon decides to meet him again to confess her feeling to him.

Julia is saying goodbye to the last visitors who have come to the house after the sudden death of her husband. When it seems that finally has a moment of intimacy, Susan knocks on the door. Despite Julia's refusal to let her pass, Susana rebukes her, arguing that she has the right to say goodbye to her husband.
