Rauno Rämekorpi is celebrating his 60th birthday. He has been awarded the title of Industrial Counsellor, and the company's management has commissioned a biography of him. After the celebrations, the industrial counsellor orders a taxi to take the flowers brought by the guests to the landfill. However, taxi driver Seppo Sorjonen convinces Rämekorpi to change his mind – the flowers are taken to a few female friends instead.

In 1965, Glen Campbell was a session guitarist and singer from Arkansas who had played and sung on countless surf, hot rod, and sunshine pop records that labels and studios in California were issuing in the mid-'60s. After he filled in for Brian Wilson as a touring member of the Beach Boys that year, the Beach Boys' label, Capitol Records, offered Campbell a solo recording contract, which paid off two years later when Campbell's pop-folky country version of John Hartford's poetic and tumbling "Gentle on My Mind" hit the pop charts. Campbell's solo career was on the way, and the rest, as they say, is history. Postcards from Buster centers on Buster traveling to various places around North America, usually in the United States but also in the Caribbean, Canada – and other places – with his father, who is a pilot for a group of musicians. In each episode Buster meets children in the location, who show him aspects of their family lives and local culture. The sequences with Buster are animated, while the portions featuring the children are live action (viewed from the viewpoint of Buster's video camcorder). After each trip, Buster sends to Arthur a "video postcard" videotape summarizing what he's done and who he's met in each location. The children and their families that are presented on the series are meant to be multicultural and diverse, and range from a Mormon family in Utah to a Mestizo family in Texas.

Rinne Kudo, who is studying abroad in England, sees her classmate kidnapped by Yoko Minato right in front of her.
