Ascoli Piceno is home to "SUPERBI," a store that has been producing the city's most famous fried olives since 1861. Fulvio has been running the family business for years, yet recently he has grown tired of it (and the quality is not what it used to be, although he'd never admit it). But then a new fried olive store opens in town, run by young rival Ismail.

Ben Winter returns from his tour in Afghanistan with the German ISAF. Having survived a suicide bombing, which claimed the life of his best friend, he is trying to find his way back to his old life, with his girlfriend, family and friends. But his memories are catching up with him. Increasingly, he is losing contact with reality and his trauma gets the upper hand. A near-accident makes him and his family finally aware of the deep-rooted trauma and feelings of guilt he brought back from Afghanistan and he checks into a veterans' hospital for treatment.

The viewer becomes the partner of the scientist who tries to understand through analysis of fragments and ruins.

A female eye doctor and a male film director run into each other on the airplane to Milan. The two were lovers in the past, and are now in their middle ages. After their chance encounter in Torino, they travel around Tuscany together, appreciating the works of Caravaggio. They begin to notice they are hiding their own wounds from each other. In Korea, he goes to her eye clinic, and they confess love to each other for the first time. In the end, they go their separate ways.

The stooge's friend Claude sells them his old lemon of a car so they can take Shemp, who is sick with a toothache, camping. The car won't work and the boys are apparently out a bundle, when a car collector happens on the scene and offers to buy it at a premium. Claude backs out on the deal and gives the stooges their money back, only to discover the "collector" is an escaped lunatic.
