A snapshot of the porn industry in the San Fernando Valley focusing on a handful of people: Luke Ford, a reporter who breaks the industry's gentlemen's agreement and writes about actors who have HIV/AIDS; Kimberley Jade, a veteran actress who contracts AIDS; Katie June, who arrives in Los Angeles from the South, going on 20, with dreams of becoming a porn star and with her mother's approval; Jim South, who runs a talent agency; and, William Margold, an aging factotum. Others appear on camera to round out a portrait of a busy industry that's lucrative for some and dangerous for others.

Loneliness dwells in a big city; Kostya, the wedding photographer, dwells there too. At work, he is surrounded by happy people celebrating special moments in their lives. Kostya is about to turn 50, and he is drastically losing everything he used to cherish. Will he cope with his despair and regain the joy of life?

Freddy, a Viennese Jew who emigrated to New York after Hitler's invasion, and Adler, a left-wing intellectual originally from Berlin, return to Austria in 1944 as soldiers in the U.S. Army. The wind blows almost permanently on the craggy coast of Northern Spain. The gentlemen try to find out how the two lovers got to know each other and how intense the stormy relationship must have been. Jumping back and forth in time, the relationship and its players are expounded, alternated with images of the tranquil village, the wild nature and the wind that sweeps through the trees and stirs up dust on country roads.
