The Four Days of Naples

A pair of Americans want to perform the greatest robbery: the treasure of San Gennaro, in Napoli.

In the fascist Italy of 1935, a painter trained as a doctor is exiled to a remote region near Eboli. Over time, he learns to appreciate the beauty and wisdom of the peasants, and to overcome his isolation.

The life of Orlando, a gentle piano tuner, tormented by back pain, changes when he meets Olga, a charming physiotherapist, who diagnoses him with an emotional contracture and asks him to bring her a photo of himself as a young man, so that she can help him resolve his problems. The unusual request will push Orlando to travel and to relive, almost like a spectator, the events of his life that made him the solitary and contracted man he has become.

Improved, because the illustration help us to discover that the physical aspect of the caracters influences the comical features and the symbolism of this masterpiece. Impoverished, because it neglected, especially since the 19th century, the representation of the age and the context, thus favoring abusive adaptations and condensations.
