Most mid-19th-century Mississippi River boys dreamed of occupying that pinnacle of power and glamour, the pilot house of a riverboat. In a riot of local color, this film tells how, unlike many, Sam's dream comes true. A callow teenager, he talks the tough but consummate Horace Bixby into making him his apprentice on the "Paul Jones," eventually following him to the much finer "Aleck Scott." Meanwhile, he is already spinning fantastic yarns to everyone from awe-struck lads ashore, to fellow "cub pilots", to young lady passengers who catch his eye. Things temporarily take a turn for the worse when Bixby must attend a meeting and leave Sam to work under Brown, a dour tyrant with a grudge against him.

Our old lodge brothers are celebrating their 25th anniversary this year. This is being celebrated with the release of their eighth show! The show was recorded over two evenings in April and has now been edited down to just under two hours of fantastic (sultry) entertainment. The show covers a wide range of topics, and this year we meet the Little Mermaid, the Egtved Girl, the Grovbollemanden, and H.C. Andersen. The show also offers a reunion with Olsen, Meyer, Emma, and pet shop owner Clausen from Huset På Christianshavn itself. In addition, we will see old acquaintances such as Fjertomanen, and we will attend the funeral of Dorthe and Grethe at Gyllegården...

He treats his audience like is therapist and pretty much leaves them bereft of hope but bloated with laughter. It's dark, it's poignant, it's melancholic but it's hilarious. Considered one of the comics with the darkest material in India, Neville doesn't disappoint. The topics he deals with are narrated anecdotally, making them approachable. He doesn't make fun of them; he makes fun about them. Afflictions, vulnerabilities and flaws are a part of human beings and Neville takes his feelings about them, analyses and then presents them. It's a perspective of someone who is going through them. And you see him crumble and rise with each story, you can also see him going downhill.
