The Final Girl Returns

TB is the most deadly infectious disease in history - it has killed over a billion people in the last 200 years. Multi-BAFTA winning film-maker, Jezza Neumann travelled to Swaziland to make this very intimate account of the crippling effects of MDR-TB. We witness victims from two families battle with the disease over the course of a year.

Insignificant fragments, reworked, reassembled, slowed down, put in loops, of Greek popular movies of the 50s and 60s. These fragments are accompanied by short extracts of poems written by Greek authors and by Manos Hadjidakis'music. Kamal is a thief who finds a broken watch among his stolen items so he puts it aside. It turns out that the watch contains hypersensitive microfilm about military sites, and he becomes followed by the police and the spies who want the watch.

Adaptation of a novel by Johannes Mario Simmel. The story takes place in the Dolomites, where a conflict arises between the clergy of a monastery and the inhabitants of a shanty town for construction workers over the water supply. A young novice feels increasingly attracted to the men who, after work, enjoy themselves in dimly lit bars with music and alcohol with easy girls. As a result, she is in danger of falling away from the faith and, instigated by a woman from the village, even leaves the convent. In the end, however, she finds her way back to God.

Mr. Takada is a successful mature writer who falls into a creative blockade following the death of her wife. Incapable of finishing the novel his fans demand anxiously, and about to turn seventy, he starts wandering several pubs in the city, until he meets Sayo, a beautiful young waitress with sentimental issues she doesn’t hesitate to share with her clients.

Based on the poems by finnish poet Johan Ludvig Runeberg, the movie centers on the Finnish War between Russia and Sweden in 1808.

The film takes us back to a moving, exciting and unforgettable period in time, the time of Liberation and emancipation. A young teacher – Partisan arrives in a small Serbian town. His wartime, partisan “pedagogy” conflicts with the old methods of work in schools. The children, of course, stand by their teacher, their true friend.
