On a hot summer day in Oslo, the dead mysteriously awaken, and three families are thrown into chaos when their deceased loved ones come back to them. Who are they, and what do they want?

Yu Hong leaves her home village and starts university in Beijing, where she develops a consuming and compulsive relationship with another student. The student riots from 1989 then ensue and take a toll on their lives.

In 1995, the year before the comprehensive gun ban policy was implemented, the tranquility of Mangya Town was shattered. A notorious bandit leader, who had hidden a massive treasure, broke out of prison. This film interweaves interesting ancient legends in the storyteller's journey of exploration, immersing the audience in the mysterious folk myths. Faced with the impact of digital media and the loneliness of oral traditions, the film records a race against time and also records the national memory that is about to be forgotten.
